College and career readiness: the support CROME offers and how to ask for it
A meaningful future can take many forms: college, trade school, a certification, the workforce, or a business of your own. CROME helps students explore those possibilities and prepare for the route that fits them. Here is what that support looks like in practice.
Exploring your options
CROME starts with exposure: learning about traditional and non-traditional pathways, then hands-on learning through job shadowing, workshops and industry visits so you can see a career before committing to it. Our mentorship guide explains how to set that up.
Applications and essays
- Guidance on college, trade school and scholarship applications.

Writing help works best with time. Ask at least two weeks before your deadline so a mentor can read your draft, give feedback, and read it again.

- Career conversations and industry insights from mentors who work in the field.
Who can ask?
Students in Ennis and Ellis County preparing for what comes next, at any stage from “I have no idea” to “my application is due Friday.”

Email CROME with what you need and when you need it by. Include your school and grade, and attach a draft if you already have one. There is no fee for any of this support.
