CROME has launched Ellis County Scholarships, a free website that brings local scholarships and the students they are meant for into one place. It is a nonprofit initiative of CROME, it serves every community in Ellis County, Texas, and students never pay to use it.
What you can use today
- A page for each of the county’s 17 high schools, public, charter and private, with the school’s official links and good questions to bring to a counselor about scholarships and transcripts.
- Scholarship guides for students and for the people who fund them: a preparation checklist, where to find local scholarships, and how to offer one.
- How it is funded: the site stays free for students through CROME, community gifts, local sponsors and the Ennis Bluebonnet Run.
What comes next
Local scholarship listings open next, searchable by hometown, by the path a student is taking and by what they care about, along with free accounts for students and scholarship providers. Join the launch list as a student, a provider or a supporter to hear the moment they do.
Why CROME built it
Local scholarships from employers, churches, civic clubs and families often draw only a handful of applicants, and many never travel beyond one school’s counseling office. CROME was founded in memory of Claudio Romero, an Ennis High School graduate whose community helped him earn a full scholarship to Texas A&M. Ellis County Scholarships carries that idea across the county: one free place where a scholarship can reach the student it was meant for. CROME’s own scholarships are applied for separately.

Zavila Studio, a creative studio in Ennis, Texas, designed and built Ellis County Scholarships: the separate paths for students and scholarship providers, the high school pages, the guides and the launch sign-up. Zavila Studio also created this website. CROME runs the scholarship initiative and its programs.
