A conversation can introduce a student to a career they’ve never considered. A mentor can help them see how their interests become a path forward.
CROME’s mentorship work connects students with professionals for personalized guidance, career shadowing, industry visits, and opportunities to learn from real experience.

Who it’s for
Students in Ennis and across Ellis County who are thinking about life after high school: college, trade school, a certification, the military, a business of their own, or a path they haven’t named yet. You don’t need a plan to start. Many students ask for a mentor because they aren’t sure.
What a mentor does with you
- Career shadowing: time with a professional to see what the day-to-day work is really like.
- Industry visits: hands-on time in workplaces and industries you’re curious about.
- Workshops and networking that build skills and connections.
- Guidance and feedback based on your own goals.
- Once you’ve chosen a path, help with applications, essays, FAFSA, and scholarship forms.
Who the mentors are
CROME mentors are professionals and board members from medicine, nursing, dentistry, law, financial services, writing, business, and human resources, several of them from Ennis. Meet the mentors and read their stories before you reach out.
How to ask for a mentor
Request a mentor to open our contact form with mentorship already chosen. Tell us what you’re curious about and whether there’s a mentor you’d like to talk to. Mentorship is free for students: donations and the Bluebonnet Run pay for it.

- Yes. Apply on the Join us page and choose Mentor. You don’t need a perfect career story, only experience and encouragement to share.
